Millipore Corporation, a leading provider of technologies, tools and services for the global life science industry, has created an online MAb (monoclonal antibody) Bioprocess Sizing Tool to help biomanufacturing scientists and engineers develop and design filtration and chromatography processes. Available at www.millipore.com/sizingtool, this robust yet easy-to-use resource provides real-time insights and direction into complex bioprocess design.

Process developers can use the MAb Bioprocessing Sizing Tool to determine which filters are needed to produce a desired volume of monoclonals. The tool features an interactive graphic of the MAb process, with links to individual sizing tools for each unit operation where Millipore offers products and services. By clicking on a unit operation, users see a link to product and application information for that process step.

"We created the MAb Bioprocessing Sizing Tool to help customers quickly estimate process sizing and filter cost, which can help them meet their time-to-clinic and financial objectives," said Paul Chapman, Vice President, Downstream Processing. "It is the first in a series of web-based tools that Millipore will make available to customers for a variety of processing steps."

After entering process-specific information, users receive recommendations on filter sizes and formats that fit their parameters, as well as relevant links to the online catalogue and technical library. Users can estimate different configurations and save this information in a document that can be stored online, printed or sent to Millipore to request a call with additional information.

"When sizing tools are combined with small-scale verifications and/or pilot scale simulations for specific customer processes, any application can be optimized," said Chapman. "Millipore's filtration knowledge, combined with our deep process expertise, gives us unique insight into the industry's biggest bioprocessing challenges. This tool is one of the many new resources we're designing to help customers save time and reduce costs."
